I purchased some blank bookmarks (Wal-Mart) and glued on paper & stickers to create these:

Both sides of the bookmarks are decorated.

Owls, Robots, Peace Signs, Cupcakes…

I have a girlfriends birthday coming up so I made a cute little card:

Simple beautiful paper for the outside.

I’ve had these cards for a while. They are kind of like flash cards. I decided to punch holes in them and link them together with yarn. The cards are sturdy. This is good for beginner readers to play with.

Earrings & Bookmarks

I’ve been into so many paper crafts lately, I thought I would switch it up and play with beads for a while. I purchased some really pretty purple beads and some perfect little white beads. Unfortunately jewelry is so hard for me to photograph. Here’s the jewelry and bookmarks I made:

Beautiful Paper

I love how these bookmarks turned out…. only one little problem. They are curving up slightly.  While the glue was drying I should have put them under some books. But I left them to dry on the craft table and now they dont lay flat… Well, thats okay, these ones will still work fine for me and my books. Lesson learned.

Reads: “Do what you can, Where you are, With what you have.”

Theodore Roosevelt

Reads: “Joy delights in joy.”

Shakespeare

Reads: “People may doubt what you say, but they will believe what you do”

I received an email with this lovely little pink care bear in it. I decided I would use the image on a card.

The inside reads: Hope Springs Eternal In The Human Heart

Hola!

I celebrated my birthday this weekend. Breakfast @ Perkins, 4 player Mario Kart, Dinner @ Mamma Maria’s, Bowling, Lazer Tag, Ski Ball, and more 4 Player Mario Kart. All in all, one hell of a good day 🙂

I’m still working on all kinds of crafts for Christmas. Lots of sewing and crocheting. We’ve had some horrible snow storms and bitter cold! The cold weather should give me the opportunity to stay inside and craft,  instead it just made me lazy. I was physically tired from shoveling the driveway and mentally tired from the stress of trying to drive on slippery roads. But I’ve managed to get a few more things made….

I’m attaching these hearts to the drawstring bags I am making. They are stuffed with Fiberfil. I’ve inserted a gromet in each one so they can be tied to the drawstrings.

I am making cubes to go inside these drawstring bags. They are fabric covered cardboard pieces that I am hand sewing together to form cubes. Some of the cubes open, like a box, with one lid. Others are enclosed with large beads inside to make them rattle.

This latest one is large and opens. The inside is lined with pink fleece.

Once that box is finished I need to move onto this smaller one. This one will be enclosed (won’t open). Hand sewing the cubes together makes my hands tired after a while so this is slow going. I still want to make a few more so I need to get a move on…I’ve already sewn the fabric to the 6 pieces of cardboard. They just need to be assembled.

This year I mailed my Christmas Cards out with little handmade bookmarks inside. I purchased some ribbon and printed out a quote I enjoy. It was cheap to mail in the regular envelopes and I think it added a little something extra.

I am working on a baby blanket. I’m a beginner with crocheting. But I love it. I love making scarves and blankets. I taught myself with some books and lots of practice. There’s so many options for beautiful yarns. There’s so many colors to choose from! This blanket is only about half done right now, hopefully I can finish it in time.

One of the lovely gifts I received for my Birthday is this awesome dress dummy. It’s adjustable and fabric covered. Exactly what I wanted. I am excited to keep making some fun, unique handmade clothes.

Until next time- Keep on craftin!

xoxo – Rosie

Crafts

DSCF2889

I haven’t done much sewing lately. I need to pick up more jersey material. I have a skirt sketched out. I want to do  a thick waist band and alternate a different color per panel. I figure, go all out hippie. Make it floor length.

I am also sketching a new top to make. But I am deciding if I can make it versatile enough to be worn as either a one shoulder strap or a two shoulder strap. But I am perfecting that option… I might have to just chose and make it either a one shoulder strap or two….

I’ve been doing more paper crafts lately. Mostly for swap-bot. But also for some family members. I’ve been making handmade postcards, bookmarks, and friendship books. The idea of FB’s is to send them around the world and collect addresses. Once the book is full of peoples contact info, it’s to be sent back home to the owner of the book.

I picked up stickers from JoAnns. I used a hole punch and ribbon so you can bind the pages together.

I’m growing veggies out on the balcony…..I might be moving Sept 1st (watch for a new address fellow swappers) and the place in mind has a lovely back yard 🙂

Next in line: Checking out this whole Zines business. I have seen some swaps going on for Zines and I am rather intrigued… more to come on that later…..

But if you have a zine to show off, let me know. I’d love to see detailed examples. Flickr isn’t curbing my appetite for in depth knowledge.

Caution: Crafts In Progress

DSCF2879

The good news is, I love all kinds of crafts. The bad news is, there’s not enough time for them all. But here’s some that I have been working on lately
