Owl Print – Bench Pillows

I purchased 2 pillow inserts from Hancock Fabrics and also bought this Owl print fabric to make covers. I bought sew on Velcro from Walmart. Each pillow has one side that is Velcro so I can remove the covers to wash them or if I want to make new covers and use the same pillow inserts.

I attached brown ribbon so I can tie the pillows to my entry way bench so they don’t fall on the floor and get dirty.

Sewing Foot Rest Cushion Covers

I watch a ton of HGTV and I love all things DIY! So when my mom brought over 2 matching foot stools for me, with hiddeous green cushions, I knew what I had to do; create new cushion covers!

The original cushions are green corduroy that look very worn out. I purchased some tan-ish colored fabric from WalMart that I thought would look much better.

I made the cover a lil big, but the cushion still fits nicely on the foot stool. And it’s way better than before! As a bonus, when I remove the cushion I can use this stool as a mini couch-side table for my pop and snacks 🙂 And the cushion also makes a good floor pillow when an extra seat is needed.

Here Comes Fall

I Love fall weather. I love the cool breeze, the trees changing colors, wearing sweaters, crocheting, bonfires, all of it.

I made two new Rice Heat Packs. The fabric is doubled up, so they wont get too hot. They are filled with scented rice (apple). You microwave them for about 5-10 minutes, or until the desired temp is reached. Then you can use it as a heat pack on sore muscles. Or they work great to warm up a cold bed in winter! They make great gifts. The fabric I used is very soft and has a nighttime pattern, stars and clouds.

Hot Pad – Handmade

I made this hot pad a while ago and never posted about it. I thought I would make more and post them all together. But I haven’t gotten around to it. I wanted to make a Valentine’s Day one.

I read online that you can use layers of fleece or batting inside. Mine seems to work pretty good. I just used some scrap material I had in the craft room.

Hello! 🙂

Over the weekend I made this cute tote. I love the green handles and the fabric for the bag. (I got it from my mom, thanx ma!)

I hand sewed beads on the handle to create a flower. I got the beads from my sister 🙂

The lining is the same fabric as the outside.

I’m currently using this new tote to hold some kids toys that are in the office

I have been doing some paper crafts too. I am working on two journals right now. I’m decorating them for two girls I’m swapping with. Here’s some photos:

I do all kinds of art in my journals. Everything from drawings, poems, venting, painting, collages, pictures, magazine cut outs, stickers, newspaper ads, web links, recipes, ticket stubs, wishes, regrets, lists, quotes, lyrics, etc.

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas & a safe and fun New Year!

Halloween Crafts

It’s September, the trees are changing colors here in Minnesota, fall is here and the weather has cooled down a lot. I’ve started making some Halloween crafts already. I’m working on felt gift bags for my nieces, nephews, and other kids I know. I will fill them with candy (goldfish and animal crackers for the 1 year olds!) and stickers and other Halloween stuffers I find.

Two of the bags have square cut outs in the middle, they’re little windows so you can see the bag of candy and stickers that are inside. I am thinking I’ll put the candy inside zip lock bags or find some sort of celephane wrap. Something see through.

I have to hand sew the embelishments on. But this is my progress so far:

I am also working on some handmade Halloween cards. I’ve done 2 so far, I’d like to make a few more.

Home Decor & Creative Art Journaling

Hello. Thanks for swinging by 🙂

The weather is definitely getting cooler, and I’m preparing for fall. I picked up 2 new magazines:

I’m excited to make two recipes I picked out for dinner this week. I’m going to the grocery store after work tomorrow to get the ingredients. And I’m also excited to make the handmade cards, Halloween decor, and stuffed owls from the craft magazine. I need a few supplies first, like felt.

I’m changing the color scheme in my living room. I’ve only been in this house for 2 and a half months so things are still coming along.

Because I purchased this painting I’ve started to add some blues/teals into the room.

I saw some throw pillows I want to get- but at 12.00 a piece, it could get expensive…

The runners I made fit in the living room well:

I picked up some scrap material from WalMart for cheap to use on a side table in the office, for now anyway. I love the pattern, it’s nice to add some texture to the room:

I framed some lovely, silky, purple material I had in 2 16×20 frames. I hung one on each side of the window in my craft room:

I picked up a dark brown basket from the store today and threw in some pink, purple, rose, and tan colored decor pieces. It matches the new table runner I made last week really well. It’s a very light color, with fall coming I may end up changing the whole theme into warmer browns and oranges or burnt reds. I don’t know yet. I guess I was hoping for summer days to last a little longer 🙂

even the kitties got a new basket for their toys:

Here are a few new pages I made in my art journal:

Time for me to go make some dessert (brownies :))
